Have You Been Reading Lately?
As I thumb through the newspaper, reading some of the most horrific crimes ever committed by mankind (meat
cleaver murder) (daughter thrown into a boiler). Politicians screaming at each other over he-say she-say garbage.
Are you reading lately?
Children were invited to watch cartoons such as Bugs Bunny, Tom & Jerry, Felix the Cat, Wally Gator, Topcat, Yogi
Bear, Huckleberry Hound, Foghorn Leghorn, Quick-Draw McGraw, and others. These cartoons were simplistic and
not crime-ridden with murderous plots. The Bible states "Train a child in the way it should go, and when it is old it will
not depart from it." We are only receiving what has been placed in society through movies, cartoons, and real-life
events, and now we don't want to read about it.
Now the cartoons are Teen Titans, Power Rangers, Loonatics, Jonny Test, Skunk Fu, Transformers, Grim
Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Cow & Chicken, Xiaolin Showdown, The Batman. All are filled with violence, injustices to
humanity, creatures that resemble demons, and you wonder what the scriptwriters and cartoonists are about when
writing such plots for the young minds to receive today. Profanity, porous like water form a waterfall, yet nothing is
said to those that are responsible, have you been reading lately?
Amos & Andy (T.V version) was supposed to be such a humiliating, degrading, picture as it relates to
African-Americans, yet look at the comedy we see on buses, trains, schoolyards, movies, and in our homes. Young
men, pants down past their behinds, copying the jailhouse style, have you been reading lately?
News syndicates would rather talk about pigeons being exterminated in the city of New York, but refuse to publish
real-life issue as it relates to our youth, gang-warfare, homelessness, injustices in our courts, economics, lack of
affordable housing, and racism, to say the least. Have you been reading lately?
Schools, colleges, and universities have become a battlefield, because of someone's careless writing of scripts in
movies, giving Satan an opportunity to fester in the hearts of our youth and adults throughout this country.
Citizenship is no longer expressed, character is no longer addressed, morals have been stripped, mouths have
become filthy, churches have become business, pastorialship have become vacant, pews have become empty
because of the lack of God's knowledge. Have you been reading lately?
More time is spent writing about driver's licenses for immigrants rather than seeking a solution to the overpopulation
of this country and the outflow of money being sent to other countries without tax consideration. Have you been
reading lately?
Schools are failing, producing failures, and committing the atrocity of telling a half-equipped individual that they can
function in society. have you been reading lately?
Brothers and sisters, we have some work to do. Work while it is day, for at night, no man can work and night is almost
here in this country.
