On the Eve of Christmas, a Troubled Nation
I have just finished reading a passage of scripture in the Holy Bible and I quote "When Herod the King had heard
these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him." Matthew 2: 3.
As a servant of God, I am troubled concerning the condition of mankind as it relates to receiving the gift that God
gave us (Jesus Christ). We at this time of year give presents to our love ones, friends and co-workers, yet we
forget to give them the greatest present of all (the love of God) which is his word.
I am troubled when discrimination is alive and well, I am troubled when the murder rate is on the rise, I am troubled
when hate crimes are being ignored, I am troubled when Senior Citizens are being robbed by John Q. Citizen and
our government, I am troubled when the love of many (churches) have waxed cold, I am troubled when parents
refuse to take on the responsibility that God has given them concerning their children " Train up a child in the way
it should and when they are old they will depart from it (teaching). I am troubled when banks would rather board up
housing and not allow them to be rented or purchased (waiting for a better housing market) etc....
Yes, these are the signs of the times (great woes)
But, there is hope," Love covers a multitude of sins". Let us prepare our hearts to receive the Holy Spirit and learn
to love, pray, give, to each other, the gift of God, the knowledge of his son Jesus Christ.
